The ITMO
University Ball

The most non‑classical event at the first non‑classical university.
The first modern ball held at universities in Saint Petersburg took place at ITMO University as part of the ITMO FAMILY programme, with the support of ROSSMOLODYÓZH (Federal Agency for Youth Affairs).
The International Ball Association served as the organisational partner for this prestigious event at ITMO.
In collaboration with the university administration, we joined forces to create a truly vibrant and memorable event. For the International Ball Association, developing the culture of modern balls within universities is an important step towards:
  • upholding the values of dance leisure among young people;
  • fostering a culture of communication in the university environment;
  • reviving the traditions of social events with a contemporary interpretation.
The journey to the ball begins long before its grand opening: participants take a dance course where they learn classical, Latin American, and jazz dance styles.
In addition, they attend lectures on musical culture, dance etiquette, and social protocol.
After two months of preparation, students are treated to a truly spectacular celebration: a grand ball opening, an opera performance, professional dancers, debutants’ performances, and, of course, plenty of dancing!

We are confident that this is a wonderful tradition that helps foster a culture of communication within the university.
